Treatment of dry eyes

Finding the cause instead of just switching drops – stepped therapy based on the findings.

What is this about?

Burning, a foreign body sensation, tired eyes at the screen: dry eye is one of the most common eye conditions. The cause can be too little tear fluid – but more often it is a disturbed composition of the tear film.

How do we find the cause?

At the slit lamp we assess the tear film, the lid margins and the ocular surface. This lets us distinguish whether tears are lacking or evaporating too quickly – because the right treatment depends on that.

Which treatments are available?

Suitable tear substitutes, lid margin care and warm compresses, and medication if there is inflammation. We build the therapy up in stages and adapt it to your everyday life.

Risks & limits – said openly

Dry eye is usually very treatable, but it needs patience – often over several weeks. Left untreated, it can permanently irritate the ocular surface.
